IELTS part 2 Sept-Dec 2015 topic.

Describe a picture or photo you like/in your home
You should say:
- What it is? When was it taken?
- Who took the photo?
- What it looks like?
And say why you like it?

Selection: Family photo (graduation)

A: Family photo, at my graduation ceremony, university, framed, hung in the living room

B: Studio, professional photographer, “the man behind the camera”, edited the photo in Photoshop,

C: Portrait (not a portrait), in the background, in the foreground, on the left, on the right.

D: Recall unforgettable memories, special occasion, proud of myself.

Grammar: past and present. (use the past tense to describe the event and actions, however, you must always use the present tense to describe a photo – which can be quite challenging for some students) e.g. In the picture, I'm wearing a graduation gown and hood.

Example: Let’s kick off with the first aspect and I’d like to talk about a family photo that was taken a few years ago at my graduation ceremony. In fact, it is definitely one of my favorite pictures because it helps me to recall some of the most unforgettable memories when I was still at RMIT University in Australia. It doesn’t really surprise me when my dad carefully framed and hung it right in the center of the living room so he could showcase my achievement to his friends and relatives…

Part 3 possible follow up questions:

-What do you think about 'Photography' as a career?
-What makes a good photograph?
-What are the improvements latest technologies has bought in photography?
-How often do you take photographs?
