Part 2 IELTS speaking topic Sept-Dec 2015.

Describe a long walk you took and enjoyed.
You should say:
-When this happened?
-Where you walked?
-Who you were with?
And say why the walk was enjoyable.

It is indeed quite boring if you just randomly pick a walk to the shop or school as it would be pretty difficult for you to expand your ideas, the key here is to have a story behind the walk since the topic is clearly asking you to describe an EXPERIENCE.

Selection: Talk about a “charity walk” where you participated in to raise funds for a local charity organization to help children/students who live in the rural areas of Vietnam.

Vocabulary:

A: charity walk, campaign ( it was a campaign to help us understand how it would feel to be in the students’ shoes), sprinting, slow pace (I wouldn't say that we were sprinting. In fact, we were marching at a very slow pace so most of us were pretty relaxed and we had heaps of great fun, although some of us got pretty exhausted towards the end of the marathon) active kind of person/couch potato (personally, I’m not really an active kind of person so my parents usually call me the “couch potato”. sneakers (but on the day, I had made a tough decision to put my on my sneakers and just went for it).

couch potato= a person who is very lazy and watches TV all the time without any exercising.
sneakers= sport shoes

B. starting point ( the starting point was in the heart of the city on Nguyen Duc Canh street), destination (the destination was at Do son beach), marathon (the marathon took us a total of 3 hours), distance (we walked a total distance of 15 kilometers).

C: my parents also signed up to the event despite the fact that they’re already in their mid 70’s. the locals (the locals also got involved actively to show their support to such a great cause)
a great cause: a socially useful organization or activity that is not managed for profit.

D: exercise and get into shape (once again, it was a great opportunity for me to do some exercise and get into shape by losing some calories), rewarding experience, meaningful and worthy (I was proud of myself as it was such a rewarding experience to be part of a meaningful and worthy charity campaign.) If I had the opportunity, I would definitely volunteer to sign up again, despite the fact that my energy was drained out after the marathon. (a very effective, yet easy way to boost your grammar score by adding a 2nd conditional tense).

Grammar: mainly past tense.
